JANUARY 2010: Manifold Window Shade Patent Issued
Two and a half years after filing, Rick's patent application for a new line of window shades has been allowed by the US Patent and Trademark Office!

The shades operate with folding patterns based on origami. At present there are four different designs, and many more patterns will become operable in the future. The shades originated as a student project at Pratt Institute, and went through several generations of improvements before Rick was ready to consider patenting them. After consulting with lawyers, he decided to employ his own writing and drawing skills to patent it on his own. The next steps will be to develop a business plan, begin to research improved materials, and produce working products for sale.
