With the help of master carpenter Tom
Biron, Rick has built a brand new workshop in Claryville, NY!
In keeping with Manifold's sustainable philosophy, this energy efficient
building was made with recycled and locally produced materials.

2010: Manifold Window Shade Patent Issued
Two and a half years after filing, Rick's patent application for
a new line of window shades has been allowed by the US Patent and
The shades operate with folding patterns based on
origami. At present there are four different designs, and many more
patterns will become operable in the future. The shades originated
as a student project at Pratt Institute, and went through several
generations of improvements before Rick was ready to consider patenting
them. After consulting with lawyers, he decided to employ his own
writing and drawing skills to patent it on his own. The next steps
will be to develop a business plan, begin to research improved materials,
and produce working products for sale.
